Architectural Masterpiece Resort selects Drainage fit for a King
Terrain Above Ground Drainage is the product of choice for The Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences.
A 48-storey, five-star resort on the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, is set for completion in December 2019.
The Royal Atlantis will be home to 800 hotel rooms and 250 hotel apartments, and will house recreational, entertainment and service facilities, all built to the highest international standards. Its contemporary aesthetic has been crafted by some of the world’s leading designers, architects and artists.
For a resort as luxurious and extravagant as this, the project team knew there would be no room for poor drainage, which can cause leaking, foul smells, unwanted noise, environmental hazards and public health issues. Any sign of these problems and the hotel could face serious reputational damage.
Polypipe Middle East worked alongside lead consultant, Dynamic Engineering; MEP consultant, WSP; main contractors, Ssangyong Engineering and Six Construct; and MEP contractor, Speecon Group LLC, to design a high-performing solution that complied with the project specifications and would complement a value engineering approach to construction.
Easy-to-install, flexible and lightweight, Terrain Above Ground Drainage is ideal for both residential and commercial projects. Globally respected for its international accreditation and durable solvent weld joining methods, the PVC-u system is recognised as a market leader in drainage. In fact, Terrain was the first company in the UK to manufacture PVC rainwater and soil and waste systems, which is why it’s widely trusted to do an excellent job.
It has been used extensively across the Middle East for more than 60 years, and on similar prestigious projects to this, including, Fairmont Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Bvlgari Resort and Residences in Dubai and Waldorf Astoria in Doha.
In addition to supplying Terrain, Polypipe Middle East was able to offer added-value expertise, technical advice and brand credibility. In addition to this, the company’s approach to provide sustainable water and climate management solutions, gave the project team the confidence that their end customers would enjoy the best possible living experience.
Lijin Sam, Business Development Manager at Polypipe Middle East, said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside some fantastic companies on the delivery of this iconic project. Terrain always performs and our team’s knowledge and expertise of this markethelps us to install the product in the most efficient and effective way".
